Father/Son - Mother/Daughter Workshops August 11-13!

The Heritage Ministry Center will be hosting two more exciting workshops in August, developed with the goal of strengthening family relationships while working together to learn new skills!

Our Mother/Daughter: Vintage Homemaking Skills Workshop  will be held August 11-13, 2014 (Monday noon through Wednesday).  Mothers and their daughters will have the opportunity to learn old-fashioned homemaking skills such as baking artisan breads, making butter, cheese, yogurt, and kefir, canning, making natural soaps and cleaning products, and beginning sewing, spinning, knitting, and crocheting.  Come learn new skills as well as well as drawing closer to each other and enjoying fellowship with others as well!

Held during the same time will be our Practical Skills for Guys Workshop for Fathers and Sons.  Fathers and sons can come August 11 - 13, 2014 and learn the basic skills of automotive maintenance, carpentry, building sheds and coops, and basic home repair (electrical/plumbing/HVAC) with the goal in mind of learning how to keep their own homes in good repair as well as developing a ministry meeting the needs of widows in their own areas.

Both the Vintage Homemaking Skills Workshop for Mothers and Daughters, and the Practical Skills for Guys Workshop  will be held on August 11 -13, 2014 at the Heritage Ministry Center in Madison, Tennessee (Nashville area).  Workshops will start Monday at noon and will run through 4:00 Wednesday afternoon.

The cost for each workshop, including housing and meals is $150 for a father and a son, or a mother and a daughter. (Additional sons or daughters may attend for $25 each.)

Family Farmstead 1: The "Suburban Farmette" Workshop

Has your family desired to learn how to have a more self-sustaining, frugal family lifestyle, while at the same time seeing improvements to your family food choices through simpler, healthier, organic living?

Our new Family Farmstead, Level 1 - the "Suburban Farmette" will help you to not only see the wisdom of eating as God intended, but will also give you the foundation needed to raise and prepare your own organic vegetables, fruits and berries, and honey, as well as grass-based meat, eggs, and dairy products on a very small piece of property (or even in your backyard!!).

We will explore concept of old-fashioned family farmsteading, realize the great need to produce food that is both nourishing and economical, and learn how to be good stewards of our land, our time, and our resources.

Come learn not only how to work together as a family producing your own food but also the rewards of drawing closer together as you work and fellowship as a family team to achieve a more self-sustaining lifestyle.

This two and one half day workshop will teach you the basics you will need to  know to learn how to begin gardening organically, raise clean, healthy meat, eggs, and dairy products, produce your own cheeses and butter, and learn how to turn your excess products into cottage-industry opportunities for extra family income.

Family Homestead, Level 1 - the "Suburban Farmette" will be held on August 4 - 6, 2014, (Monday evening through Wednesday) at the Heritage Ministry Center in Madison, TN (Nashville area), with a field trip scheduled to go to a local family-run goat dairy/farmstead cheese plant in the area.

This is a workshop for the entire family!  The cost will be $150 per family.  On-site family-friendly hotel rooms will be available at $55 per room each night (rooms sleep up to five).  All meals starting with Monday dinner and through Wednesday lunch will be included in the room rates for those staying on-site.  (A meal ticket option will be available for drive-in attendees - sign up when you make your class reservations.)
